This region is divided into lowland and mountainous areas.
Lowland area: This area covers Mingachevir, Goychay, Aghsu, Kurdamir, Ujar, Zardab, Aghdash regions situated in the north- western part of the Kur-Araz plain which is at the altitude of 516 meter above see level. The semi-zone has a central desert climate and differs from other regions by its dry subtropical climate, long-lasting warm spring and mild winter. Mean annual temperature is 14,1-14,8°C. Annual degree of actual temperature is 4472-4688°C. The amount of annual rainfalls varies from 323 to 510 mm. The mid-mountain part of Aghsu located on the mountainous semi-zone of this area, Shamakhy and especially Ismayilly regions are situated 500-900 meter above the see level.
